Is TradeWars legit?

A free contest giving away funded account challenges deserves scepticism. Here is everything you need to check us — including the question that looks worst from the outside.

Last updated: 17 August 2026

Be sceptical. Anyone offering something valuable for free in trading should be checked before being trusted. This page is written to be checked — every claim on it points at something you can verify yourself.

Why do you need my MT5 investor password?

We put this first because, seen from outside, it looks like the oldest warning in trading: never give anyone your credentials. That instinct is right, and here is precisely what is being asked.

MetaTrader accounts have two passwords. The master password trades the account — we never ask for it and you should never send it to anyone, us included. The investor password is a separate, read-only credential built into MT5 for exactly this purpose: showing someone your results without giving them control.

  • It can read balance, equity and trade history.
  • It cannot open, close or modify a position.
  • It cannot withdraw or transfer anything.
  • It applies to a demo account holding virtual money — there is nothing in it to take.
  • You can revoke it at any time: change it in MT5, or unlink the account from your dashboard.

We need it because the leaderboard is built from your actual account, refreshed every few minutes. The alternative is asking traders to submit screenshots, which is how contests get faked. Here is where to find yours — and if a site ever asks for your master password, that is the moment to walk away.

Do you ever ask for money?

No. No entry fee, no deposit, no card, and nothing on this site to buy. Because no payment method is ever stored, nothing can renew, upgrade or upsell you later.

One disclosure, because it belongs here: we receive affiliate commission if a participant opens a live broker account through our optional referral link. It is stated in the rules, it confers no advantage whatsoever in the contest, and you never need it — an Axi demo you already own works identically.

Where does the prize come from, and who pays for it?

The prize is a €5,000 Crypto Fund Trader evaluation account, and we buy it from CFT for $58. The €25,000 monthly prize costs us $240. That is roughly $940 a month leaving the company in prizes.

This matters for judging us. Most competitions award their own challenge, which costs them almost nothing. We have no challenge to sell, so every prize is an invoice — and we earn only from 25% of payouts a winner actually receives after passing both phases. If nobody gets paid, we earn nothing and have still bought every account. The full arithmetic is here.

Can the rules change while I am competing?

No. The rules are published in full and fixed before each week opens, and a week that has been played is never rewritten.

The clearest test of that is a change we actually made. On 17 August 2026 the maximum-loss rule moved from being measured against an account's weekly peak to its weekly starting equity, because the old version had eliminated 25 traders who were in profit. The change applied from the following Monday; the weeks already played kept their original results, and the reason and the numbers are published on the rules page rather than quietly edited in.

How do I check the winners are real?

  • The winners page names each one with the week they won and their return.
  • Every trader has a public profile with their equity curve and closed trades.
  • The leaderboard updates live from the accounts themselves, not from anything a trader submits.

We do not use blurred screenshots or first-name testimonials. They cost nothing to fabricate, which is why they appear on every red-flag list in this industry.

The standard red flags, applied to us

Most of the usual warnings cannot apply here, and it is fair to say why rather than to claim virtue:

  • "They keep your fee when you fail" — there is no fee.
  • "They profit from you failing" — we lose $58 each time a prize is not passed, and earn only when a trader is paid.
  • "Hidden auto-renewals" — no payment method is stored.
  • "They promise a funded account" — we do not. We buy an evaluation; CFT decides who becomes funded, under their terms.

And one that does apply, honestly. The prize is an evaluation, not funded capital, and most traders across this industry never pass one. If you enter expecting a cheque, you will be disappointed — this page explains exactly what winning gets you, including what happens if you fail.

What we cannot promise

We do not control Crypto Fund Trader. We cannot guarantee their payouts, their trading rules, or that they will keep operating — this is stated in the rules and in the agreement winners sign. What we control is our side: the contest is free, the rules are fixed and public, the prize is genuinely bought, and the results are measured from real accounts.

If anything here does not match what you find, write to [email protected] and say so. A platform that asks to be checked has to answer when someone does.
